Guess who published this statement :
“Regulations that have become out-of-date, superfluous, inappropriate or ineffective should be removed, based on the changing needs of the shipping industry and technological advances.”
IMO ! After a public consultation on administrative burden, the “Steering Group for Reducing Administrative Requirements” evaluated the responses received and developed recommendations. “Cleaning” maritime regulations is one of them.
It sounds very pragmatic and proactive, but it sill need to be applied ! Will IMO and the Member States be strong enough to scrap some of the rules ?
Any suggestion on what to get rid of ? Reporting requirements ? Paper copy of Oil record book ? Mandatory carriage of Sextant ?
